Congress of Local and Regional Authorities holds its 22nd session

 

Strasbourg - The Congress of Local and Regional Authorities of the Council of Europe will hold its 22nd session in Strasbourg between 20 and 22 March 2012.

This session will focus on the reports on local and regional democracy in Europe, particularly the state of local democracy in Lithuania and local and regional democracy in the Czech Republic, Germany, the Republic of Moldova, Portugal and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The reports are based on Congress visits to these countries in 2011 to monitor the application of the European Charter of Local Self-Government.

Congress members will also discuss the local elections held in Bulgaria in October 2011 and the impact of the current financial crisis.

Slovenia will be represented by the Mayor of Šmarješke Toplice, Ms Bernardka Krnc.
