Reception of Ambassador Damjan Bergant, Permanent Representative of Slovenia to the Council of Europe, in honour of Drago Jančar and Boris Pahor

 

Strasbourg – On 24 March, the Central European Association for Literature (Association Capitale Européenne des Littératures) awarded literary prizes for 2011.



Among the winners were Slovenian writer, essayist and editor Drago Jančar, who received the European Prize for Literature for his literary work, and author and writer Boris Pahor, who received the medal of the City of Strasbourg. The Slovenian poet, essayist and translator Boris A. Novak participated as a guest in the round table organised by the Association.

The Permanent Representative of Slovenia to the Council of Europe, Ambassador Damjan Bergant, hosted a reception in honour of Drago Jančar, Boris Pahor and Boris A. Novak.

The reception at the Slovenian residence was attended by some forty guests, including Slovenians working for the Council of Europe and the European Court of Human Rights, representatives of the Slovenian community in Freyming Merlebach, and Slovenia’s Ambassador to France Veronika Stabej.

In a short address, Ambassador Bergant congratulated Mr Jančar and Mr Pahor, saying that all Slovenians were proud of them for receiving such a prestigious award.
